The Ramsey Music Society, formerly the Ramsey Grammar School Music Club, has been flourishing since September, 1974 when Mr Jack Pick, Head of Music at the Ramsey Grammar School, created it. Mr Pick’s intention was to fill a gap in the cultural life of Ramsey and to make professional standard classical music available to the School’s students. Amongst its supporters at the School, was Mr John Christal, a former Principal of the School.
Over the years, many fine artists have performed for the Society including the late Colin Horsley, a local resident and its President, Julian Lloyd-Webber, Alicja Fiderkiewicz, Claire Jones, a recent Prince of Wales’ Harpist, Matthew Jones and Annabel Thwaite, Gary Ryan and the Kandinsky and Kegelstatt Trios.
All students enjoy free entry. Admission at the door on the night is £12. Members pay £60 to enjoy the six standard concerts.
The Society much appreciates the support it receives from the Isle of Man Arts Council.

Without its help, the quality of the Society’s concerts would be much lower.
